joan: Dear fellow listeners of this site, if at this point, you still are not sure if you will go to heaven when you die, i invite you to pray sincerely to Jesus. Admit that you have sinned, and therefore bound to Hell. But because of Christ, you will be saved from the fires (Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."); Confess your sins to God; Praise Him for his goodness, He is our Savior, His love has saved us.(John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life"); and let Him enter your Heart; Commit that you will not have any other LORD but Jesus Christ alone! Please own this prayer, say it, set it in your heart. "Jesus, i admit that i am a sinner and i am sorry for all these. i praise you for your goodness, and for the gift of salvation. Come into my life, i now accept you as my pesonal LORD and SAVIOR! Set your kingdom in my heart that i may not serve and obey other lord but You only. I pray this in Jesus' name. Amen" if you have prayed this sincerely from your heart, congratulations! you are now a Christian. You have just accepted the gift of salvation for God. This is truly for His amazing grace! :) Amen and Amen! (2007-09-08 04:03:10)
joan: Gil, Our spirit goes to heaven ONLY if we have accepted Christ as our LORD and SAVIOR. this was clearly mentioned in John 14: 6 "Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Therefore, there is a blessed assurance that we can be in Heaven, ONLY if we accept Christ in our heart. i know very well that i will go to heaven when i die, because i have accepted HIM, and i live accroding to His will. this is the Lord's promise, as written the bible. Thank you. (2007-09-08 03:25:17)

Gil: With all due respect to Bo's deceased father, I just want to comment on what his mother said about his deceased husband. She said that his soul is now in heaven. Of course we would love to think that our departed loved ones is enjoying the beatific vision of God already after they passed away. But this seems more like a presumption on our part. We cannot objectively know for sure whether our loved ones is already in Heaven. Who knows they might be in Purgatory and God forbid...hell. I believe that most souls who died in the state of grace do not go directly to Heaven after they die UNLESS they have already been purified while here on Earth. Very few souls are pure enough to be granted immediate entrance to the Heavenly Kingdom. I've read somewhere that St. Albert the Great had a vision of Purgatory where he saw beatified saints still in the process of purification! Wow...take that. What am I saying this? There is a danger in presuming that our loved ones go straight to Heaven when they die. First, if they are indeed in Heaven, they do not need our prayers anymore. If we presume they are already in Heaven, there is no more need to say Masses or offer novenas for the repose of their soul. I personally believe it is much safer to assume that our loved ones, provided they died in God's friendship, are in a place where they are undergoing purification which is Purgatory. If we think that way, we would be obliged indeed to pray for them often, to offer Masses for them, etc. Just my personal opinion though. God bless everyone. (2007-09-01 13:14:22)
