ITINERARY

DAY 01 (Mon). MANILA – FRANKFURT.

Depart for Frankfurt in the evening.

DAY 02 (Thu).FRANKFURT – LISBON - FATIMA.

Upon arrival in Frankfurt, take the connecting flight to Lisbon. Board your coach and proceed for hour sightseeing tour of the city. Visit and celebrate mass at the Church of St. Anthony. Across is the Cathedral where the Saint was baptized. Then, drive along the River-Side to admire Black Horse Square. Crossing the Bridge over the Tagus with photo stops at the Bel?m Tower. tarem, 35 miles south of Fatima. Journey on to one of the world’s greatest Marian pilgrimage centers - Fatima. (D)

DAY 03 (Fri). FATIMA

After the celebration of the Holy Mass, meet your local guide for a walking tour of Fatima. Visit the Chapel of Apparitions; Basilica, where you can find the tombs of the two seers, Francisco and Jacinta. Aljustrel, home of Francisco and Jacinta; Lucia’s house with the well where the Angel appeared a second time; Valinhos, site of Our Lady’s 4th apparition; Loca do Cabeco, where children received the first and third visit of the “Angel of Peace”; and the Stations of the Cross and Calvary, composed of 14 little chapels; and the Parish Church. The rest of the day shall be free for private devotions and prayers. Spend time at the Sanctuary in the Cova da Iria. Meditate and pray at the Chapel of Apparitions, the very heart of the Sanctuary. It was the first edifice constructed in the Cova da Iria, at the place of Our Lady’s apparitions. A marble pillar marks the exact spot on which the Statue of Our Lady is placed. In the evening, join the Rosary and Candlelight procession. The rest of the afternoon is free for private individual activities. (B,D)

DAY 04 (Sat). FATIMA – SALAMANCA – BURGOS.

Continue your journey toward the ancient university town of Salamanca. See the Plaza Mayor, one of the most beautiful Spanish squares and one of the most beautiful in the world. Salamanca´s Plaza Mayor, in addition to being of the summits monuments of Spanish Baroque, is the heart of the city. The square is first of all a meeting point, in all related to work and to leisure. Depart for the city of Burgos which served as one of the capitals of Castile (Castilla), the historic heart of Spain and was the birthplace of the Spanish 11th Century hero El Cid. Visit the city’s remarkable Gothic Cathedral, a building of exceptional beauty, and one of the country’s largest churches. It is here where the Spain’s national hero, ‘El Cid’, lays. (B,D)

DAY 05 (Sun). BURGOS – LOYOLA – LOURDES

Depart for the town of Loyola where mass will be arranged at the Chapel of St. Ignatius de Loyola, the birthplace of St. Ignatius de Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus, the Jesuits. Travel by long distance coach to the town of Lourdes, where in 1858, the Mother of God appeared to the then 14-yearold Bernadette Soubirous in the remote Grotto of Massabielle. The message with which Our Lady entrusted to Bernadette can be summarized in four words that evoke and amplify the Good News of the Gospels: POVERTY, PRAYER, PENANCE, CHURCH. After dinner, catch the evening Rosary and Candlelight procession. (B,D)

DAY 06 (Mon). LOURDES.

Celebrate mass at one of the chapels in the Basilica. In the morning, meet your local guide for a walking tour of Lourdes, visiting the place associated with St. Bernadette. The rest of the day is free for private individual activities. Take time to explore the three superimposed churches built over the Grotto of Apparition: the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception (Upper Basilica) decorated with numerous pilgrimage banners given by pilgrims from all over the world; the Crypt where you can adore the Blessed Sacrament; and the Rosary Basilica where you can find 15 small chapels decorated with mosaics that will help the pilgrim follow the journey and story of the Rosary. Spend time meditating and praying the Holy Rosary at the Grotto of Massabielle, the spot where Our Lady appeared to Bernadette and identified herself as “I am the Immaculate Conception”. At the back of the Grotto, to the left of the altar, one can see the flowing spring that Bernadette discovered on 25th February 1858. Immerse yourself in the water of the Baths. This process is a response to the invitation of the Blessed Virgin to Bernadette on 25th February 1858 “Go drink of the spring and wash your self there.” The Sanctuaries and pools are always open and religious ceremonies are held everyday: Masses, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament; Stations of the Cross; Blessed Sacrament Procession and Blessing of the Sick: Confessions; and the Rosary Procession every evening. DAY 07 (Tue). LOURDES – NICE.

After mass, drive along the harbour of the French Riviera to the city of Nice, often called as the “Queen of the Riviera”. Check in at your hotel for dinner and accommodation. (B,D)

DAY 08 (Wed). NICE – MONACO – PISA.

Drive along coast road enjoying panoramic views of Nice and Villefranche. Stop in the small principality of Monaco for a tour of the Old Town of Monte Carlo. Drive along the very famous Formula 1 “Grand Prix” circuit and then see the luxurious Casino Square surrounded by beautiful gardens and hotels. Walk through the Princess Grace Rose Garden before stopping at the Monaco Cathedral where Princess Grace and Prince Rainer III are buried. Mass to be arranged for the group. Continue walking through the narrow streets of the city till you reach the Prince’s Palace. Time permitting, watch the changing of the guards at noon. Travel on to fertile and picturesque Tuscan countryside to the historic university city of Pisa, famous for its architectural beauty. (B,D)

DAY 09 (Thu). PISA - SIENA – ASSISI.

This morning, take the shuttle bus to Piazza dei Miracoli, with the celebrated Leaning Tower (exterior), the Baptistery; and the Cathedral, an unrivalled masterpiece of Romanesque art constructed between the 11th and 12th centuries. Drive through the delightful hills of the Chianti countryside to the city of Siena, birthplace of Saints Catherine and Bernardine and Italy’s loveliest medieval city. Take a walking tour of the old city centre: walking along the small medieval streets, admiring the splendid palaces and ending up at the Cathedral where you can visit the splendid interior. Visit the Cathedral and the Basilica of St. Francis, containing the miraculous consecrated hosts that have remained intact since 1730. View the incorrupt head of St Catherine, the mystical bride of Christ, at the Basilica of St. Dominic. Visit the Piazza del Campo, one of the most beautiful in the world, where you will find the Palazzo del Commune. Travel to the walled city of Assisi, hometown of St. Francis and St. Claire. (B,D)

DAY 10 (Wed). ASSISI.

After celebrating Mass, meet your local guide for a morning tour of Assisi, highlighting the huge 13th century basilica where you can see many of St. Francis’ possessions and a series of frescoes depicting his life. Next is a visit to the Church of St. Clare who founded the Order of Poor Clares and followed the teachings of St. Francis by living a life of poverty and humility. See the Saint’s incorrupt body in the Crypt. On to the Basilica of Sta. Maria degli Angeli where St. Francis spent most of his life. See the Porzuincula, the rose bush, and the cave where the Saint prayed. The rest of the day is free for private individual activities. (B,D)

DAY 11 (Thu). ASSISI –ROME.

Travel south to the eternal city of Rome. Visit and celebrate mass at the Basilica of St. Paul outside the Walls, built over the burial place of the Apostle of the Gentiles and consecrated in year 324. Continue with your sightseeing tour of Rome’s famous landmarks such as: Piazza de Venezia; Colosseum; and the Roman Forum. See the famous Trevi Fountain before dinner at a local restaurant. Check in at your hotel for accommodation. (B,D)

DAY 12 (Fri). ROME.

Meet your guide for a full day tour. Visit the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel. See the Gallery of the Tapestries and the Gallery of the Geographical Maps before arriving in the famous Sistine Chapel with its magnificent fresco of the Last Judgement by Michelangelo. After lunch, see the tomb of the late Pope John Paul II before visiting the Basilica of St. Peter built over the tomb of the apostle. (B,D)

DAY 13 (Sat). ROME.

Morning tour of Rome’s basilicas and churches. Start with the Basilica Morning tour of Rome’s basilicas and churches. Start with the Basilica of St. John Lateran, the Cathedral of Rome and the Mother of All Churches, dedicated to Our Saviour, and to Sts. John the Baptist and John the Evangelist. Opposite the Basilica is the Scala Santa (Holy Stairs) where you can find 28 marble stairs carefully preserved and which by tradition were the steps walked by Christ on his way to trial before Pontius Pilate. Visit Sta. Maria Maggiore, Patriarchal basilica dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and famous for its mosaics dating back as far as the 5th century and for the holy relics of the crib. Walk to the Church of St. Praxedes, unknown jewel of Rome that will surprise you with its astonishing mosaics and the sacred relic of the column where Christ was flagellated. Across is the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, dedicated to St. Alphonse Maria de Ligouri, known by the name of its famous icon - Our Lady of Perpetual Help. The remainder of the day is free. DAY 14 (Sun). ROME – FRANKFURT – MANILA.

Check out of the hotel after breakfast. Then proceed to celebrate a Thanksgiving Mass before heading to the Vatican Square for the Papal blessing. In the afternoon, transfer to the airport for the departure flight back to Manila via Frankfurt. (B)

DAY 15 (Mon). MANILA.

Arrive in Manila in the evening.
