Mark was a multi-millionaire.
He was a CEO of 20+ companies (He never told me the exact number).
I met him when I was a 14-year old kid who loved sharing God to others.
So Mark invited me to preach in his huge mansion. So there I was, standing in front of Mark and six of his friends---businessmen of equal wealth and stature.
Can you imagine how I looked like at 14?
I was a small, thin, ugly, peepsqueaky kid---dressed in a faded shirt and a pair of old brown sandals---nervously holding my Bible---speaking in front of these millionaires. It was almost hilarious! Why would these bigwigs listen to a nobody?
But when I started telling them about God’s love for them---simple stories that any grade schooler could understand---the fascinating thing happened: I saw these grown-up men listening intently. I realized they were desperately hungry for God.
After my short talk, I led them in a prayer and a song, and I recall how Mark shed tears in front of his friends---and soon after, the others followed.
I can never forget that experience.
It made me realize that no matter how old you are, or what state of life you’re in---you’ve got a soul that needs to be fed daily.
At the end of the day, your deepest and greatest need is God Himself.
First "Hidden" Disease:
Is Your Soul Malnourished?
It was almost illogical.
Because Mark and his friends were older.
They were richer.
They were more intelligent and wiser and had a ton of skills I didn’t have.
But why did they go to a 14-year old kid for spiritual food?
Here’s why: They knew they were physically, financially, professionally mature. But they also knew they were spiritual babies or toddlers.
At least, they were wise enough to know that.
So many people aren’t wise. So they forget the most important part of their lives---their soul. And that’s very dangerous.
Let me give you an analogy. Do you know that many people today are physically malnourished and don’t know about it? We eat so much junk food, we’re basically starving our body from vitamins and minerals. We look okay on the outside, but our bodies are weakening each day.
In the same way, our souls are starving for spiritual food. And many of us don’t know that we’re slowly dying in our spiritual lives.
Not only that. There’s another hidden disease that many don’t know as well. It’s connected to the first one, but has a whole world of problems of its own...
Second "Hidden" Disease:
Is Your Soul Disconnected?
What’s the glaring symptom of Soul Disconnection?
Unbalance.
Balance is the key of having Total Wellbeing---when every part of your life is in synch with your soul.
Read carefully: To prevent Soul Disconnection, you need to let your spiritual life impact your financial life, your family life, your professional life...
Yes, it’s possible to grow in every area of life---and achieve beautiful balance.

Life is hard as it is.
And I’m sure like any human being I know on planet earth, you’ve got problems.
So why complicate your Formation Program with complex language?
I want to nourish your soul with God’s Word---but in a way that you can understand. Here’s a wonderful truth some spiritual teachers forget: God wants to be understood! And more than that, He wants us to experience Him.
All my life, I’ve made this my goal---to allow people to experience God.
What’s the use if I give you big theological words and heavy sounding gibberish? So I can impress you about how intelligent I am? Geepers. (I’d rather impress upon you how intelligent you are!)
I teach using simple stories, because that’s how regular people speak.
By the way, that’s also how Jesus taught---through His parables---telling us stories about farmers and fishermen, servants and shepherds, coins and sheep.
So if you get my stuff, you can be sure that you’ll hear your language.
Here’s another reason why you don’t have to strain to understand me...
Second, I’ll Also Make It Fun...
Because You’ll Absorb The Materials More.
Sometimes, I’ll be funny.
Okay, many times, I’ll be funny.
Not because my topics aren’t serious. They’re so serious, they’re life-changing.
Here are two reasons why I’m making it fun...
1) I’ve discovered that God is the most fun-loving Guy in the Universe.
Who says God is boring? Who says that saints have to be serious, somber, solemn folks? (If a holy person doesn’t smile often, I’ll doubt his holiness.) To me, God invented laughter and dance and song and fun! To remind myself that God must have an incredible sense of humor---I just look at the mirror---and ask why God made such a big nose for a Filipino!
2) Because if its fun, you absorb the material more
I speak in a fun way because of a very practical reason: You do something more often if you enjoy doing it. So why not make your Total Formation Program something that’s enjoyable? If they’re fun, you’ll be looking forward to the video talks, audio talks, and the magazines that’ll come your way. You’ll digest the material more, causing it to have more impact on your life.

I don’t hide beneath theories.
When I teach, I’ll usually share my experience on that topic.

Why? After years of preaching, I’ve realized that the messenger is the message.
That the most effective way to teach is through the life of the teacher.

I’m not saying I’m perfect.
On the contrary, I’ll usually share my weaknesses and failures, just to let you know that I’m just like you.

For the past 26 years, I’ve been serving God in wild, wonderful ways---trying to change the world for God.

1. You’ll Share In Our Work For The Poorest of the Poor
I’m very happy with this work, which we call Anawim. (It’s a Hebrew word that means the "The Poor of the Lord.")
We started it in 1995---and since then, we’ve been able to help thousands.
Our main project is a home for the abandoned elderly. We pick up old people in the streets, abandoned by their own families. We spend P350,000 ($7,000) each month so we could give them a Christian home, caring for them, feeding them, clothing them, and trying to make the remaining years of their lives as comfortable as possible.
We also have a prison ministry, medical missions, street children projects, and recently, we’ve partnered with Gawad Kalinga to build 200 homes for the poor, and with He Cares Foundation to build 50 homes. That’s a total of 250 homes for the poor! We’ll be initially spending P4 Million ($75,000) for this project. That’s 250 families that we’ll be touching and changing for the better. You’ll be a part of this awesome work.
2. You’ll Share In Spreading God’s Love Thru Print, Internet, Cell Phones, Radio & TV Ministry
For 15 years now, SHEPHERD’S VOICE has published the widest read Catholic literature in the country---KERYGMA magazine, COMPANION, DIDACHE, SABBATH, GABAY, FISH (our youth magazine), and a host of best-selling books, and teaching tapes and CDs.
We also use the internet heavily, sharing God’s Word through our SOULFOOD Ezine and our websites.
We also have a dynamic "Cell Phone" Ministry. Thousands download God’s Word everyday through our service. (For those living in the Philippines, type DIDACHE or GABAY on your cell phone and send to 2333 for Globe subscribers or 211 for Smart and Talk 'n Text subscribers).
And recently, we’ve been broadcasting God’s Word via Radio Veritas and 40 other Radio Stations in the Philippines, and producing "KERYGMA TV" that will be played in various cable TV channels all over the country as well. Cost? P800,000 ($16,000) each month. But we believe it’s worth every cent---just to reach more people with God’s message.
You’ll be a part of this awesome work.
3. You Share In Building a Worldwide Community
We’ve just celebrated our 25th Anniversary as the Light of Jesus Community---our "physical" community. And we’ve built thousands of small communities called Caring Groups around the Philippines---and a few in Canada---and potentially all over the world. Through them, thousands of lives are changed, shared, and commissioned---to go and share God’s love to others.
And since 1997, we’ve held "Live" events---called KERYGMA FEASTS---in almost all the major cities of the Philippines. Hundreds of thousands of people have joined us in these powerful gatherings all over the country.
But today, we’ve chosen to also build a borderless, non-physical, international community called KERYGMA FAMILY---and this is incredibly exciting!
You’ll be a part of this awesome work.
4. You Share In Healing The Hurting, Broken, and Wounded
Ten years ago, we also built the Light of Jesus Counselling Center. It’s a small, hidden, unglamorous operation, but we’ve remained available to those who need us---the hurting, the broken, and wounded of society---through our correspondence, telephone, and face-to-face counselling.
We also have our in-house training program, and we’ve trained thousands of leaders from other communities to become counsellors as well.
You’ll be a part of this awesome work.

I Have a Huge Ministry
& A Very Tiny House...
There was a time when being a Preacher meant worldwide respect.
Well, not anymore.
Today, some people think preachers and swindlers are one and the same thing.
Let’s face it. How will you know that your tithes and love offerings won’t go to my pocket?
I know preachers and evangelists who drive Jaguars (among other flashy cars) and live in mega-mansions---the size of their houses matching the size of their ministries.
Well, I want you to know that God has given me a large ministry too. (Sorry for tooting my horn here, but I hope you forgive me. I’m trying to drive home a point...)
But my house has remained tiny.
It’s built on a 65 square meters lot area---and we love it. It’s so small, I see my family a lot. We bump into each other often.
My wife and I have made a choice to live a simple life.
Mind you, we’re not poor.
How can I teach you to grow financially if I don’t?
God has blessed us with tiny businesses on the side that support us. To name a few, I have tiny food stalls and an educational center for kids.
My wife and I choose to live simply so that we can be more generous to others and to the ministry.
Why am I saying all these, as though I’m boasting?
Just to tell you that if you give a Love Offering to your KERYGMA FAMILY, 100% of whatever you give will go to the work of the Lord.
When you give, God gives back more to you.
I’ve long realized that poverty isn’t a money problem; Poverty is a mind problem.
One of the reasons why people are poor: They have a scarcity mentality.
They believe that money is scarce, and that it’s very difficult to earn money.
But when you start giving, you gain a great gift: You take on an abundance mentality. Subconsciously, you start believing that there’s so much wealth out there! And when that happens, you’ll see more opportunities to grow financially.
This is merely one result of giving.
Of course, there’s God’s promise that He’ll bless you a hundredfold.
I’ve experienced this many times in my life.
Sometimes, I get astounded how generous God is to me---because I give generously. He can never be out-given!
