I've got a Western Digital 250GB My Passport Essential as my backup drive. Based on my experiences, ok naman 'sya and I didn't experience any problems at all. And the reason why this is my personal choice is because USB powered 'sya not unlike 'yung ibang external hard drives na kailangan pa ng AC adaptor which is bulky and kung iisipin mo 'eh what if walang saksakan 'yung place na paggagamitan mo 'non.

hi, I'll say, all of those brands are good..but it depends on what you need...external USB HDD, LAN or Media server???
consider also the warranty, like Lacie, they do have 3 years warranty...in my case I'm using 1 TB Buffalo for my media server(http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B002 … oh_product),, and a 320GB Transcend USB(http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B001 … h_product9 with though casing for my portable one....
last thing is, make your budget...since price is proportional with the brand name..
